Designers newspaper wedding dress makes a statement

Designer's newspaper wedding dress makes a statement

Green wedding planning is undoubtedly a hot trend, but how far would you take the "reduce-reuse-recycle" ethos? For example, would you wear a wedding dress made out of old newspapers?

Fashion designer Gary Harvey took the idea of a recycled wedding gown one step further by using 30 used copies of the Financial Times to piece together a couture creation, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The wedding dress, which first made an appearance at London Fashion Week, was recreated for an exhibition at a museum in Denmark focusing on sustainable fashion. It features a halter-style top and a full ball gown skirt.

If that's not quite your style, Harvey's latest collection also features a wedding dresses pieced together from 10 recycled gowns that have already taken their trip down the aisle.

Harvey says the dress was created as a statement against waste, as wedding gowns are "made to be worn once and then either stored or discarded."

Other items in his collection are made from Hawaiian shirts, laundry bags, jeans and army jackets.
